After a fifteen hour drive, even with a quick nap, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that I was dragging by the time midnight rolled around on Thursday night. But there we sat, catching up on eachothers lives with our sweet mama. After a quick sleep, we were right back to catching up and giggling (and of course, tormenting mama - in good humour, obv.)
Usually, when we come to visit, mama has a list of things for us to do or help her with while we're here. By the end of trip trip when we're leaving, we've often not crossed anything off the list because we've just been so grateful to be able to sit together over coffee or wine or her fave, margherita's.
Well, I am determined to cross all, okay, most of her list off this time. As of Friday night, I've managed to do three things...
*confirm her paint color choice (merlot) for the breakfast nook. Check.
*give her a haircut. Check.
*make yakimondu. Check it out...

Yakimondu is a Korean dish that we (and I mean mama, because I was so young) learned to make while stationed at Fort Drum, NY. (I was in kindergarten).

We learned this dish from a woman named Anna. Unfortunately, we cannot recall her last name and haven't kept in touch, but we remember her whenever we make it.

Crispy, golden-fried goodness...

Notice me using my sleeve to guard against the hot grease popping me? Mama was having a fit, but hey, what's a girl supposed to do?
And so, we are now enjoying a fun-filled Saturday.. Sitting around with coffee and teaching Jac some french phrases to use while over there in April/May....
How much fun can one girl have??
